Stella Olivia Kikoyo : Monica, welcome to the Stellar Woman Show! It’s such a pleasure to have you here as our featured guest for this Christmas issue. Can you start by telling us about yourself and the journey that brought you to where you are today?
Monica Bradley: Thank you, Stella, and thank you for the invitation to be here. I am the founder and managing director of MB Associates, a company based in the UK. While we are headquartered in Surrey, our clients span across the globe, from Australia to New Zealand and America.
At MB Associates, we specialize in mortgages and financial protection. When I say financial protection, I’m referring to services that help secure people’s financial futures in the face of unforeseen circumstances. Our ethos is centered around long-term value and building relationships with clients. This has been at the heart of our success, allowing us to win multiple awards over the years.
Monica, this issue focuses on the theme of giving, gratitude, and celebration. As a child, what did Christmas mean to you?
Christmas has always been magical for me. I’ve loved everything about it—the twinkling lights, the Christmas trees, the spirit of giving, and the fantasy of Father Christmas. Even today, I love believing in that magic!
Beyond the festive decorations, Christmas has always been a time to take a step back from life’s busyness and spend quality time with loved ones. When I was growing up, Sundays were sacred family days. My aunts and uncles would come over for afternoon tea, and everything else would stop. Shops and theaters were closed, so there was no choice but to focus on family.
That sense of togetherness has stayed with me. Today, with life moving so quickly and technology making us more accessible than ever, I cherish Christmas as a time to pause, reflect, and connect with the people I love.
Gratitude and giving are central to this season. How do they shape your celebrations?
Gratitude is deeply ingrained in who I am. I reflect on what I’m thankful for every week, and Christmas amplifies that practice. It’s a time to appreciate what we have, but I’m also very mindful that it’s not a happy time for everyone.
If I know someone who might be spending Christmas alone, I make it a point to invite them to join us. It’s about extending love and togetherness beyond family. To me, Christmas is also a time of reflection—looking back on the year and remembering loved ones we’ve lost. This year is particularly poignant for me, as I lost my last aunt, who was the final member of her generation.
Can you share a childhood memory that has shaped you into the person you are today?
My mother was an incredible role model. She worked as a night nurse while raising three children. She’d do three nights on, three nights off, and no matter what, she always ensured we had breakfast together as a family.
Her strength, resilience, and ability to balance work and family were inspiring. I didn’t realize it at the time, but her work ethic and dedication left a lasting impression on me. She was someone who just got on with it—never complained, never wavered. That memory has stayed with me and shaped my own approach to life and work.
You are the cover woman for this issue of Stellar Woman. What does this mean to you personally and professionally?
Personally, it’s such an honor. I’m absolutely thrilled to see myself on the cover! I might even frame it and keep it on my sideboard as a reminder of this moment.
Professionally, it’s a recognition of my journey and the strength I’ve built over the years. It’s a testament to the values I’ve held onto—honesty, integrity, and perseverance. Being part of this magazine alongside so many inspiring women is truly humbling.
What do you believe makes you a Stellar Woman?
I’d say my honesty, integrity, and constant striving for excellence. I’m always asking myself and my team, “What can we do better? What didn’t work? How can we improve?”
It’s not just about me—it’s about involving everyone in the organization and aligning them with a shared vision. This mindset of continuous improvement, coupled with a deep respect for people, is what I believe makes me a Stellar Woman.
You’ve built an award-winning business in mortgages and financial protection. What inspired you to focus on this field?
I started in wealth advising, but I quickly realized I had a passion for helping people navigate their financial journeys, particularly with mortgages.
There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping first-time buyers or individuals facing financial challenges achieve their dreams. Over the years, I’ve found that passion hasn’t waned. It’s deeply rooted in who I am, and I still love what I do just as much as I did 30 years ago.

Every client interaction is rooted in these principles. We never cut corners, and we’re committed to delivering on our promises. This approach has earned us a strong reputation in the industry, and it’s something I’m incredibly proud of.
Collaboration seems to be a strong focus in your business. How do you foster that within your team?
Collaboration is integral to our success. We hold regular team meetings to share ideas, discuss challenges, and support one another. Flexible working means we’re not all in the office at the same time, so these meetings ensure everyone stays connected.
One memorable breakthrough came when we helped a client who had been turned down by four other firms. It was a complex case, but by sharing past experiences and collaborating as a team, we were able to secure their dream property.
What advice would you give to women aspiring to enter or grow in the financial sector?
Believe in yourself and don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Have a plan, pursue knowledge, and stay true to your values.
The financial sector can be challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. As women, we have great intuition and the ability to connect with people, which are invaluable traits in this field.
Can you also share how you strive for excellence and what actions you take to maintain it?
Striving for excellence begins with putting myself in the client’s shoes. I ask, “What kind of experience would I want if I were them?” It’s about paying attention to even the smallest details—how quickly we respond to emails, how we answer the phone, and how we present ourselves.
I also reflect on our processes regularly. Is there something we could tweak to improve the client experience? Even small adjustments can make a significant difference. Excellence isn’t about big gestures; it’s about consistency in every interaction.
What role do women play in shaping the financial industry, and how have you contributed to fostering this?
The financial industry has evolved significantly. When I started, it was predominantly male-dominated. I often found myself as the only woman at a table of 12.
Today, it’s incredibly heartening to see more women entering the field and excelling. Women bring empathy and an unparalleled ability to listen, which are critical in financial advising. I mentor young women in the industry, sharing my experiences and encouraging them to pursue their goals unapologetically.
Congratulations on your Diversity and Inclusion Award! What initiatives led to this recognition?
Thank you, Stella! We’ve worked hard to create an inclusive environment, both in our team and in how we serve our clients.
We collaborate with diverse communities, such as the vibrant Bengali community, and ensure our team reflects the diversity of the clients we serve. Internally, we focus on fostering a supportive and open culture where everyone feels valued and understood.
What’s next for MB Associates as you look ahead to 2025?
Growth is the big focus. We’re looking to expand our team, particularly in specialized areas, and enhance our services.
At the same time, maintaining our culture and values is crucial. As we grow, I want to ensure we continue delivering the same level of care and excellence that defines MB Associates.
You mentioned that fear of failure often holds women back. Can you share a time when you faced a challenge and how you overcame it?
Challenges are inevitable in business. One memorable setback involved losing a key team member who had been with us for years.
Instead of dwelling on the loss, I used it as an opportunity to review our processes and strengthen the business. I believe setbacks are opportunities in disguise—they push you to reevaluate, adapt, and grow stronger.
How do you bring the spirit of Christmas into your business?
Christmas is a big deal at MB Associates. We celebrate with a party, Secret Santa, and team activities like quizzes.
I also try to give my team as much downtime as possible during the holidays. It’s a way of acknowledging their hard work throughout the year and ensuring they can recharge with their families.
What has been your most meaningful achievement this year, both personally and professionally?
Personally, I’ve started learning the piano again—something I’ve wanted to do for years. Professionally, winning the Diversity and Inclusion Award has been a highlight.
It’s a recognition of the steps we’ve taken to create a welcoming and inclusive environment, and it inspires us to keep doing better.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Believe in yourself and your strength of character. I’ve always valued integrity and resilience, and those traits have served me well. If I could go back, I’d tell my younger self to trust in those values and dream even bigger.
What’s your Christmas wish and New Year message for our readers?
My Christmas wish is for everyone to find joy and gratitude in the season, however they choose to celebrate.
For the New Year, my message is to set meaningful goals, reflect regularly, and never underestimate your potential. As women, we are capable of so much—so go out there and make it happen!
