Checklist For The Perfect Self Care Night

It’s stressful handling all the things life has handed us. From work, school, family and friends, so many responsibilities swirl in the air and often lift themselves above our own needs in urgency. It is important as women to first pour into our cups so that we are full and ready when all these other responsibilities arise. That’s where self care night comes in. At least one night out of the week, dedicate that time to

winding down, taking care of your body, resting your mind and resting.

We have curated a sample checklist of things to do on your self care night:

Run a bath

Get in some warm water filled with bubbles and relax! You can even take it a notch higher and add some rose petals to luxuriate a bit more…

Light a scented candle

Scents like lavender are known to relax the body and mind. Get a candle to dim the lights and get the atmosphere in the mood to relax.

Play some soft music

Music is known medicine for the soul, so curate a playlist that is best for you and let it play.Whether you want to dance around or sway slowly, it’s your party – be the Dj!

Body scrub

We often forget to exfoliate in our day to day rush. A good body scrub will leave you smelling good and feeling soft to touch. All that extra grime, oil and dead skin will be a thing of the past!

Skincare

This is the best time to put on your face mask, serum and all the other bells and whistles of the skincare variety. Massage your face, truly wind down and let your face get the nutrients it needs!

Pedicure

You might have forgotten about your feet, so now is the time to show them some love! Soak them, file them down, paint them a colour that makes your heart happy.

Journal

At some point in the night you can take out your journal and write out what you’re feeling. This is incredibly helpful in working out inner conflicts, planning for the future, or expressing gratitude for the life that currently is. Check in with yourself!

Glass of favourite wine

Whether it’s a Pinot Noir or a Chardonnay, grab a glass of whatever grape drink is your favourite and sip slow. It’s a wind down night, remember?

Read a book (purely for fun)

Many times we get swept up in the mix of self improvement and other serious non-fiction books, and forget just how much fun reading used to be. Whether it’s a blog you love or a fiction novel, grab something to read and be inspired. You’d be surprised what you find!
